The Masters: Round 3 Notebook
The final pairing in Sunday's final features the last two PGA TOUR Rookies of the Year (Trevor Immelman, 2006 and Brandt Snedeker, 2007). Last year, Zach Johnson became the first Masters champion to win without being in the final group on Sunday since 1990 when tournament winner Nick Faldo was in the penultimate group. The final Sunday pairing in 2007 Stuart Appleby and Tiger Woods.
The four players ahead of Tiger Woods (13 major wins) have accounted for a total of seven top-10s in major championships (Paul Casey/3; Trevor Immelman/2; Steve Flesch/2).
Trevor Immelman has the opportunity to become the first player in Masters history to post four rounds in the 60s. Entering this year's Masters, 23 players have carded three rounds in the 60s on 27 different occasions. The last player to open with three straight rounds in the 60s was Retief Goosen in 2002.
Note: Trevor Immelman DOES NOT have the opportunity to win wire-to-wire -- he was the co-leader through 18 holes with Justin Rose before becoming the solo 36- and 54-hole leader.
Tiger Woods (68) broke 70 for the first time at the Masters since the third round in 2005, breaking a streak of 11 straight rounds in the 70s. Woods' career scoring average in the third round of the Masters in 12 rounds as a professional is 68.83.
Robert Allenby eagled the par-4 10th in the third round, the eighth all-time at No. 10 and the first since Brandt Jobe did so in the second round in 2006.
Masters rookie Andres Romero birdied Amen Corner (11-12-13), the second player this week to do so (Mark O'Meara, Round 1).
Brandt Snedeker's back-nine scorecard of even-par 36 on Saturday included three pars, three consecutive bogeys on Amen Corner (Nos. 11-12-13) and three birdies.
Tiger Woods has never come from behind to win at a major championship after trailing through 54 holes, having been a leader or co-leader at all 13 of his major wins.

Trevor Immelman has recorded just two holes over-par through his first 54 holes of the Masters this week. Over the past 15 years, just two players have recorded two or fewer hole scores over par. In 2001 Stuart Appleby had just one hole over-par while in 1995 David Frost had two. Immelman has also recorded 13 holes under-par so far this week, while Appleby had only five and Frost had 10 in their efforts.
Brandt Snedeker finds himself in second place heading into tomorrow's final round of the Masters. Snedeker is playing in just his fifth major tournament of his career this week. Since 1980 at the Masters, three players have been first or second on the leader board after 54 holes and who had played in four or fewer major tournaments:

Tiger Woods made another big move on moving day today at the Masters. Woods carded a four under-par 68 to stand in fifth place heading into tomorrow's final round. The third round has been Tiger's best scoring average round over his Masters career, though. How good has it been? No player with five or more rounds played has averaged better. With Saturday's round, Tiger is almost a full stroke better than the next closet player, Cary Middelcoff.
Phil Mickelson recorded his first bogey since the 14th hole on Thursday on the par-3 sixth hole today, a streak of 27 consecutive holes without a bogey. It's the second longest streak in Mickelson's Masters career. During his first Masters victory in 2004, Lefty had a run of 34 straight holes without a bogey.
First-round co-leader Justin Rose now finds himself in 35th place, 9 spots from the bottom, on the leaderboard after three rounds of the Masters. Only one other first round leader/co-leader has found himself this close to the bottom of the board after 54 holes of play. In 1990, Mike Donald held the first round lead alone before shooting 82-77 the next two days to stand 45th out of 48 players.
